What is your favorite DU Nursing memory?
Fundamental’s competencies. We were all so nervous and excited at the same time. Passing the competencies was my first big accomplishment in nursing school.
What was your favorite late-night study snack?
Popcorn and Starbucks.
Why did you choose to attend Duquesne University?
I felt at home. When I first visited, I was instantly comfortable. I loved the sim lab and was excited to be able to start clinical a year earlier than other colleges.
What did you enjoy most about your time at Duquesne and/or as a Nursing student?
Making lifelong friendships/connections and learning a lot about myself as an individual.
What are you going to miss?
The adrenaline rush that I get the night before an exam and waiting for HESI scores to be posted.
What was your biggest achievement as a DU Nursing student?
Completing my BSN in three years.
What words of advice do you have for other students on how to make the most of the Duquesne Nursing experience?
Confidence will come with time; learn to trust your judgement.
Always be open minded. You may come in with an idea of what kind of nursing you want to do and find yourself in love with something completely different.
What are your plans or goals for the future?
I plan to go back to school eventually, either to be a family nurse practitioner or nurse midwife.
Congratulations to you! You make me proud to be your mother! You’ve always been determined to succeed and never wavered. You’ve never allowed anything or anyone to delay your progress. Your grace and tenacity are admirable especially when things got tough! I wish you success in all that you do. Now, go forward and be great!
